Hotels and Lodging:
American University has negotiated discounted rates with several area hotels located conveniently to the campus. Reservations for travel can be booked directly with the hotel via the Campus Travel Management portal (Campus Travel – American University). A small percentage of the proceeds from reservations made here will be returned to American University to support university programs and initiatives.

Public Transportation & Shuttle Information
American University is accessible from all three major airports located in the metropolitan area. Reagan National Airport, near downtown Washington, D.C. is accessible to the American University campus by Metro (subway) and taxi, Dulles International Airport is accessible by Metro (subway) taxi, and a shuttle service. Baltimore/ Washington International Airport is accessible by shuttle, Amtrak, and MARC trains that run to Washington D.C.’s Union Station. Guests can then travel on Metro’s Red Line from Union Station to the Tenleytown/ American University Metro Stop. 

American University is located less than a mile from the Tenleytown/ American University Metro Station and shuttle service is provided daily to the Metro for American University students, faculty, staff, and summer conference guests at no additional charge. The shuttle schedule can be found at https://www.american.edu/finance/transportation/shuttle.cfm. Shuttles run approximately every 20 minutes from 7:00 am until 12:30 am and hours are extended on weekends. The American University shuttle is accessible to any individual with mobility considerations. 

Parking can be found on campus for $16.00 per car per day from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is no charge for parking after 5:00 pm or on weekends unless otherwise designated for special campus events. Parking passes can be purchased in advance at https://american.t2hosted.com/cmn/auth_ext.aspx. 

Driving Directions to American University:
From Baltimore and points northeast:

• Follow I-95 South and exit onto I-495 West (Capital Beltway).
• Exit at River Road and turn right. Follow River Road until it ends at Wisconsin Avenue.
• Turn Right on Wisconsin Avenue, and after a few blocks, turn right on Nebraska Avenue. Follow Nebraska Avenue past Ward Circle – this is a corner of American University.
• At the next light (Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues), to your immediate right, there will be a parking garage entrance.

From Dulles International Airport and points west:

• Follow I-495 North (Capital Beltway) across the Potomac River.
• Exit at River Road and turn right. Follow River Road until it ends at Wisconsin Avenue.
• Turn Right on Wisconsin Avenue, and after a few blocks, turn right on Nebraska Avenue. Follow Nebraska Avenue past Ward Circle – this is a corner of American University.
• At the next light (Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues), to your immediate right, there will be a parking garage entrance.

From Reagan National Airport and points south:

• Follow the George Washington Memorial Parkway to I-395 North across the Potomac River.
• Exit onto 14th St. Follow 14th St northbound through the city center and turn left on Massachusetts Avenue NW.
• Follow Massachusetts Avenue for about five miles to Ward Circle – this is a corner of American University.
• From Ward Circle, go left on Nebraska Avenue.
• At the next light (Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues), to your immediate right, there will be a parking garage entrance.

If you are from a foreign country and need a Conference Invitation letter for your visa, you must fill out the Visa Invitation form completely, save and email the Visa Invitation form to scs@scs.org.

Note: Visa Invitation Letters are provided ONLY to individuals who have paid their registration to the conference in advance. Individuals who seek to attend the conference, regardless of paper acceptance decisions or who may experience long visa processing times, are encouraged to start their visa processing early.
